Bobby Correia, Jr Black Belt candidate, presented the following essay prior to his test on June 24, 2011. His essay assignment was to write about "What he has learned about martial arts". Please take the time to read this essay. As a young man, he has so much to offer. His words are an inspiration to us all.
"When I first started in karate, I really did not know what it was about. I knew that I could learn how to fight but did not know that it was about much more. I learned about respect, self discipline, attitude and being respectful to others and myself. I also learned how to have confidence in myself and others and never be abusive and try my best at everything I do. I learned that karate brings out the good things and not the bad. It's not just about fighting. It is also about bringing out the best of yourself and sharing it with others.
I feel like I've changed over the last 7 years of my life. I feel like I am more responsible and don't have to be told to practice of clean up after myself. I really enjoy what I learn at karate. I also thank my friends and parents for a lot of support and thanks most of all to Shihan Chris and Sensei Wendy for support and everything they had taught me. Thank you."
